After three months of attempting to set up a workable infrastructure to mount a Farnham Fringe Festival in 2023, the existing very small committee has regretfully come to the conclusion that there is not enough support to do so.
This means that without a speedy, decisive and significant intervention from a group of committed individuals, or an organisation that has not so far contacted us, next year’s Fringe will not run, and the longer term future of the Farnham Fringe Festival is at best uncertain.
Farnham Fringe Festival is run by Performers Together CIC, which is also currently sustained by a very small Board of Directors. There have been just two members actively involved in trying to make the Festival work, and they are not able to sustain the effort without help. This is exacerbated by the fact that neither will be based in the Farnham area next year.
It is sad to have to admit defeat. We know that there is already a good level of interest among performing groups and individuals in appearing in a Fringe next year, but simply not enough interest in participating in its organisation.
The existing infrastructure of website, Twitter account and documentation will remain in place for some time to make possible for the Farnham Fringe to be adopted, should the right opportunity arise.
The 2022 Farnham Fringe ran from 2nd to the 17th July 2022, and offered a vibrant programme of events for all. The Festival showcased the work of leading, emerging and celebrated local performers, choirs, musicians and dancers, and welcoming internationally-renowned productions, as well pre-Edinburgh Fringe performers and writers to inspire local audiences.
Our thanks to those who have supported and sponsored the Festival
